This is a One Of A Kind Shimpaku Juniper

When enthusiasts discuss their most prized trees, the name Shimpaku  or Chinese Juniper comes up frequently. It delivers year-round foliage in the form of dark green needles that are soft to the touch.

The Shimpaku Juniper is a native of the Japanese Kurile Islands, and thus its natural habitat is prostate. As a result it prefers rocky, well-drained soil, but is known to be highly tolerant of various soil types. On older trees, the needles can become scale-like, and its fruit is a small, hard, bluish berry. It also has a red-brown shaggy bark. Also, because its branches are highly flexible, the Shimpaku Juniper is ideal for beginners learning to shape, as they don’t have to worry about damaging the tree when trimming.

We don't know the age of these trees, but they were pot grown by the bonsai collector. This tree has wonderful branch movement and a full canopy.

  • This Juniper is 10 1/2" tall, measured from the table to the top of tree. The spread is 10"
