All-inclusive Chinese Elm Bonsai Basics Workshop (Saturday July 13, 2024)

Ready to dive into the world of Chinese Elm bonsai? Join us for our Chinese Elm Bonsai Basics Workshop, where we'll unravel the secrets of this beloved miniature tree.

Why Chinese Elm, you ask? Well, it's no surprise that this little gem is one of the most popular bonsai species out there. It's like the perfect bonsai buddy for beginners—it's slow-growing and forgiving, giving you ample time to get the hang of bonsai care without feeling overwhelmed.

But hey, let's keep it real—Chinese Elms can be a tad quirky. They have this habit of shedding their leaves every now and then, but don't panic! It's totally normal, and guess what? The foliage grows back in a jiffy, usually within a couple of weeks. In our workshop, we'll demystify all those little quirks and teach you how to navigate them like a pro.

Oh, and here's a fun twist: while you'll be working with Tropical Chinese Elm in the workshop, our instructors will spill the beans on how to grow them as Deciduous too. Yup, you heard that right—these Chinese Elms are as versatile as they come!

So, whether you're a newbie eager to dip your toes into the bonsai world or a seasoned enthusiast looking to expand your repertoire, this workshop is for you. Come join us as we unlock the magic of Chinese Elm bonsai together!

Bonsai Basics is an All-Inclusive introductory, hands-on workshop, designed for people who are new to the art of bonsai. The 2 ½ Hour workshop covers the basics of bonsai, including:

  1. Brief history and origins of bonsai.
  2. Understanding the types of trees suitable for bonsai.
  3. The principles of bonsai design and styling.
  4. Basic techniques for planting, pruning, wiring, and repotting bonsai trees.
  5. Care and maintenance of bonsai trees, including watering, fertilizing, and pest control.

The hands-on workshop is the perfect place for beginners to demystify the art of Bonsai! Upon completing the workshop, you'll walk away with an awesome bonsai tree, but more importantly, you’ll have the confidence to care for it.

The instructor will help you select a “pre-bonsai” (a trained plant in a nursery pot), transplant, trim, prune and transform your tree. After a couple of hours, you’ll go home with an awesome Bonsai tree and a full understanding of maintenance.

All workshops are led by one of our Bonsai experts. We provide some of the happiest and healthiest Bonsai trees, and we love to share our knowledge!
