This is a One Of A Kind Old Contorted Quince

The Contorted Quince, also known as Chaenomeles speciosa, is a deciduous shrub that is native to China, Japan, and Korea. It is a popular choice for bonsai due to its unique, twisted branches, and attractive flowers. This tree was originally part of Tim Shoup's Collection that NEBG Purchased.

The leaves of the Contorted Quince are typically oval-shaped and have a glossy green color. The plant produces bright pink or red flowers in the spring, which are followed by small, apple-like fruit in the fall.

The Contorted Quince is known for its contorted or twisted branches, which can be trained and wired to create interesting and artistic shapes. The tree can grow up to 10-12 feet tall in its natural state.

To care for a Contorted Quince bonsai, it is important to provide it with well-draining soil and plenty of sunlight. The plant should be watered regularly but not excessively, and fertilized during the growing season. Pruning and wiring can also be used to shape the tree and encourage growth in certain areas.

Overall, the Contorted Quince bonsai is a unique and attractive tree that can make a stunning addition to any bonsai collection. Its twisted branches, attractive flowers, and small fruit make it a popular choice for bonsai enthusiasts of all levels.

The tree was repotted spring 2023..
