One-Of-A-Kind Gerald Rainville Grown Kishu Shimpaku

Limited Release – In preparation for the Nationals
We’re opening the vault.

This Gerald Rainville grown Kishu Shimpaku has just undergone its first styling by John Romano (August 10, 2025). With over 35 years of development, this pre-bonsai carries Rainville’s unmistakable trunk movement and character, now refined with an initial framework that sets the stage for its future.

The tree stands 17” tall with a 20” spread in an 11.5” mica training pot—a substantial presence with a powerful trunk and compact foliage pads already forming. The elegant trunk movement gives it quiet strength, while the freshly styled branching hints at its incredible potential as a refined bonsai.

About Gerald Rainville

Gerald Rainville was a legendary Canadian bonsai grower, best known for his stunning Kishu Shimpaku and Japanese Black Pines. Starting in the late 1980s, Gerald spent nearly four decades developing trees with patience and precision, often incorporating traditional Japanese methods.

His trees are instantly recognizable for their natural movement, aged trunks, and refined deadwood. He leaves behind a lasting legacy—and owning one of his trees is like holding a living piece of North American bonsai history.
