Satsuki Azalea - Imported in February 2024
Imported Satsuki Azalea ‘Asahi-no-izumi’ – Rare, Tall Japanese Bonsai in Premium Ceramic Pot
This Satsuki Azalea ‘Asahi-no-izumi’ is a remarkable, tall bonsai showcasing the artistry of Japanese horticulture. Hand-selected during our Fall 2024 buying trip in Japan and imported exclusively to NEBG in February 2025, it is an outstanding example of this beloved Satsuki variety.
Renowned for its soft pink blooms with deeper pink centers, ‘Asahi-no-izumi’ brings subtle elegance and refined color to late-spring displays. The flowers appear in profusion, creating a breathtaking canopy of delicate pastel hues against the fine, evergreen foliage—an effect highly prized by collectors.
Standing 19 inches tall, this bonsai features a slender trunk with graceful movement, offering both immediate display appeal and long-term potential. To ensure its health and future vigor, the tree was deflowered upon import to encourage strong structural development and repotted into a 100% kanuma soil mix, the gold standard for azalea cultivation. It is presented in a 6.5” unglazed Japanese ceramic container that perfectly complements its style.
