35+ Year Old Japanese Black Pine – Broad Base Strength, Gerald Rainville Grown
This Japanese Black Pine has presence from the ground up.
Grown from seed for over 35 years by master grower Gerald Rainville, this tree features a wide, powerful nebari (root flare) that anchors the trunk with stability and age. Its bark shows decades of maturity, while compact foliage pads provide excellent structure for refinement or continued development.
Already placed in a classic unglazed bonsai container, this tree is ready for its next stage with a collector who values both strength and balance.
We acquired every mature Shohin-Size JBP from Gerald’s collection during our last trip north. Once these are gone, there will be no more.
This tree is a living reminder that great bonsai start from the base—and this one’s foundation is rock solid.
