35+ Year Old Japanese Black Pine – Rooted Strength, Gerald Rainville Grown
This Japanese Black Pine is the kind of tree that stops you in your tracks.
With over 35 years of growth from seed by the skilled hands of Gerald Rainville, this bonsai combines rugged bark, aged trunk movement, and a dramatic root spread that grips the soil with confidence. The roots alone tell the story of decades of patient development and careful cultivation.
Already styled with strong primary branching and balanced foliage pads, this tree is a perfect candidate for refinement—or simply to be enjoyed as it is. Its placement in an ornate carved bonsai pot adds a touch of traditional artistry to an already commanding specimen.
We purchased every mature Shohin-Size Japanese Black Pine from Gerald’s collection during our most recent trip north. Once these few are sold, there will be no more.
For collectors seeking a bonsai with visible age, rooted stability, and undeniable presence, this one is a rare opportunity.
