35+ Year Old Japanese Black Pine Bonsai – Compact Power & Character
This Japanese Black Pine is one of those trees you stop and look at twice. Compact in size but full of presence, it has a thick, time-worn trunk with rugged bark, strong lower branching, and a canopy that already looks mature—not “on its way,” but there.
Grown from seed by Gerald Rainville over three decades ago, this tree carries the patience, season-by-season refinement, and quiet depth that only long-term cultivation can create. Styled and refined here at NEBG, it’s balanced, expressive, and ready for its next chapter with a collector who appreciates age and intention.

Why This Tree
Japanese Black Pine is considered one of the core species of traditional bonsai, yet seed-grown trees with this kind of mature trunk movement and bark texture don’t come to market often. The silhouette here is compact and strong, making it ideal for display on a stand or patio bench.
Please Note
- All trees are sold as-is
- All sales are final (no returns, refunds, or exchanges)
- Once the tree leaves our nursery, care becomes your responsibility
