Japanese Maple Workshop with Andrew Robson (Saturday, May 7, 2022)

This is a great & unique opportunity that does not come along very often.  Andrew Robson, a deciduous artist who completed a 3 year apprenticeship with Michael Hagedorn will be visiting NEBG.

With this 3-hour workshop you will get to work with Andrew in a small group setting on creating a Japanese Maple that you will be able to bring home to enjoy.

These maple clumps (pictured above) that will be included with this workshop are kind of weird but once Andrew saw them, he immediately thought this could be fun.

The class will work on cutting back some of the trunks to make smaller and create some size variation. Wiring of the trunks will also be performed to help spread the trunks out to create some organization.

** This is an all-inclusive workshop with the trees, supplies and tools provided.

About the Instructor:

Andrew Robson is a deciduous artist in the American bonsai community.  He completed a 3 year apprenticeship with Michael Hagedorn, after graduating from Yale University. Andrew is the President of the Bonsai Society of Portland, the largest bonsai club in the United States. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Portland Bonsai Village, and has previously served as a board member of the American Bonsai Society. He regularly exhibits work at the Portland Japanese Garden, and lectures at the garden's Japanese Arts Learning Center. Andrew is a host of the Bonsai Wire Podcast and regularly creates new episodes with the other hosts and prominent figures in the bonsai community. Important Guidelines:

** All Bonsai are shipped direct from the nursery and may ship separately from other items purchased via the Bonsai Outlet.
