One-Of-A-Kind Ginkgo
This tree arrived at NEBG a few weeks ago, from a private collector.
The Ginkgo, or Ginkgo biloba, is a deciduous tree native to China that is also commonly used as a bonsai tree. It is a hardy and long-lived tree that can grow up to 100 feet tall in the wild. We have one of these growing at the nursery - it's probably 50+ feet tall. The fall foliage is absolutely incredible.
The Ginkgo bonsai has distinct fan-shaped leaves that turn a vibrant yellow color in the fall before falling off for winter. The tree produces small, yellow-green fruit that is edible but not commonly consumed. Its bark is light gray and smooth.
Overall, the Ginkgo bonsai is a unique and highly valued tree that can make a stunning addition to any bonsai collection. Its fan-shaped leaves, smooth bark, and hardy nature make it a unique and sought-after tree that is sure to impress.
