One-Of-A-Kind Gerald Rainville Grown Kishu Shimpaku

This Gerald Rainville grown Kishu Shimpaku is a commanding tree with a powerful traditional form, enhanced by rugged trunk character and striking deadwood features. The aged bark and twisting live vein tell the story of decades of careful growth, while the flowing branch structure creates movement and drama.

Potted in an exhibition-quality Yixing ceramic pot, this tree is already elevated beyond pre-bonsai status. Yixing pots are prized worldwide for their craftsmanship, durability, and understated elegance—perfect for showcasing a mature, character-rich tree like this one.

First styled by Peter Olson on April 12, 2025, the tree’s structure now emphasizes its cascade flow and aged strength. Its proportions—19” tall with a 23” spread in a 13.5” Yixing pot—give it visual weight and presence, making it a centerpiece in any collection.

This tree is part of a rare limited release.
