One-Of-A-Kind Gerald Rainville Grown Kishu Shimpaku
Due to USDA regulations, we cannot ship Junipers to California.
This Gerald Rainville grown Kishu Shimpaku is a compact powerhouse, defined by its dramatic deadwood feature and rugged trunk movement. The jin rises sharply, creating contrast with the tight Kishu foliage and giving the tree an unmistakably aged and weathered presence.
First styled by John Romano on August 13, 2025, this tree already carries the bones of a refined composition. The live vein against the pale deadwood offers a dramatic interplay of life and age, while the dense foliage pads provide excellent opportunities for refinement.
Despite its smaller proportions—9” tall with a 14” spread in a 9.5” mica training pot—this tree has tremendous character and presence. Its compact size makes it ideal for enthusiasts looking to add a striking yet manageable Shimpaku to their collection.
As part of this rare release, pictures have been taken to capture its “before” & current state. Once sold or pulled for additional refinement, it will no longer be available.
