One-Of-A-Kind Gerald Rainville Grown Kishu Shimpaku
This Gerald Rainville grown Kishu Shimpaku is a show-stopping pre-bonsai with a massive, rugged trunk and natural deadwood accents that speak to its 35+ years of age. The live vein twists dramatically along the trunk, contrasting against pale shari and richly textured bark. Its structure radiates quiet power and balance—hallmarks of Rainville’s best trees.
Potted in a handmade Jack Hoover ceramic pot, this tree carries an added level of refinement. Hoover’s pots are known for their subtle craftsmanship and ability to enhance mature bonsai without overpowering them, making this pairing particularly special.
First styled by Peter Olson on April 10, 2025, the tree now has an established framework, with branching arranged to emphasize both trunk power and canopy flow. With its proportions—22” tall, 17” spread, 10.5” Hoover ceramic pot—this tree is destined to be developed into an exhibition-quality bonsai.
