35+ Year Old Japanese Black Pine – Gerald Rainville Grown in Tokoname Grow Pot
This Japanese Black Pine is a perfect blend of age, history, and potential.
Seed-grown and cultivated for over 35 years by bonsai grower Gerald Rainville, this tree shows a sturdy trunk, natural taper, and compact branching. Its smaller stature makes it approachable, while the rugged bark and balanced structure give it true collector appeal.
Currently housed in a traditional Tokoname grow pot, this pine is ready for its next stage of development. Keep refining in the training container or move it into a show pot—the foundation is excellent.
We purchased every mature Shohin-Size JBP from Gerald’s collection during our recent trip north. Once these sell, there are no more.
If you’ve been waiting for a tree that combines age, strength, and flexible design potential, this is an opportunity not to miss.
