All-Inclusive Bonsai Basics Workshops
Have you always wanted your very own bonsai tree but don't know where to start? Concerned about keeping it alive and thriving? This is the perfect workshop for you!
Bonsai Basics is an All-Inclusive, introductory hands-on workshop designed for beginners. In this 2 ½ hour session, you'll dive into the fascinating world of bonsai and learn essential skills, including:
- Brief history and origins of bonsai.
- Understanding the types of trees suitable for bonsai.
- Principles of bonsai design and styling.
- Planting, pruning, wiring, and repotting techniques.
- Care and maintenance – watering, fertilizing, and pest control.
This workshop is the perfect gateway to demystify bonsai! By the end, you’ll not only take home an awesome bonsai tree but also gain the confidence to care for it properly.
Hands-On Bonsai Experience
Our instructor will guide you step-by-step through the process: selecting a pre-bonsai, transplanting, trimming, pruning, and shaping your tree. You'll leave with a beautiful bonsai and a deeper understanding of its care and maintenance.
What's Included in the Workshop:
- Seasoned Instructor: Learn from experienced bonsai experts passionate about the art of bonsai cultivation.
- Tropical Bonsai Tree: Choose from 2-3 carefully selected species that align with your preferences.
- Ceramic Bonsai Pot: Pick from our curated collection of pots or apply a $10 credit to select from our larger inventory of over 1,000 ceramic pots.
- Essential Tools and Materials: All necessary tools, soil, and supplies are provided to ensure a seamless experience.
What's Not Included:
- Handmade or retail bonsai pots – You can apply the $10 credit toward a different ceramic pot if desired.
Workshop Details:
Cost: $85 per student
Duration: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Arrive early to explore the nursery!)
Class Size: Limited to 8 students for a more personal experience.
Location: 914 S. Main Street, Bellingham, MA, 02019 (Workshops take place in the greenhouse behind our retail store.)

Shipping Bonsai Trees:
Bonsai trees are generally shipped on Mondays & Tuesdays to avoid having them stay in the boxes for any extra time over the weekends.
Shipping Non-Tree Items
All non-bonsai items such as bonsai pots and bonsai supplies are shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment. Most orders are shipped either the same day or the next day, depending on the time of day the order is received.
Important Guidelines:
** We cannot ship to a FPO, APO, P.O. Box or to locations in Alaska, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii or anywhere internationally.
** All Bonsai are shipped direct from the nursery and may ship separately from other items purchased via the Bonsai Outlet.
** If extreme weather is expected, we may delay shipping your Bonsai tree to guarantee a healthy arrival; in such a case we will contact you. We are shipping living trees and must be conscious of the temperature conditions to the delivery address, as well as, while in transit. That said, we reserve the right to hold the tree(s) to guarantee a healthy delivery. We will Hold Your Tree Until It is Safe to Ship.
