Bonsai Basics Workshop - Dwarf Jade Forest Arrangement (Saturday - August 17, 2024)
Embark on a journey of creativity and cultivation with our Unique Bonsai Dwarf Jade (Portulacaria afra) Forest Workshop. It's an All-Inclusive workshop that will allow you to create a 5 tree grove / forest arrangement.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll delve into the intricacies of Bonsai Forest creation, from designing enchanting forest layouts to preparing the trees for planting and mastering the art of wiring. The star of the show, the Portulacaria afra (Dwarf Jade), adds a unique and charming element to your forest, known for its resilient nature and distinctive appearance.
As you embark on the journey of crafting your Bonsai Forest, you'll have the opportunity to choose from a variety of trees (thicknes, height, etc), allowing for personalization and creativity to shine. Whether you're a novice or an experienced enthusiast, this workshop is designed to inspire and guide you in the creation of a truly exceptional Bonsai Forest. Join us for an immersive experience that combines knowledge, creativity, and the joy of cultivating your own miniature natural masterpiece.
The instructor will help you select a “pre-bonsai” (a trained plant in a nursery pot), transplant, trim, prune and transform your tree. After a couple of hours, you’ll go home with an awesome Bonsai tree and a full understanding of maintenance.
All workshops are led by one of our Bonsai experts. We provide some of the happiest and healthiest Bonsai trees, and we love to share our knowledge!
What’s Included with the All-Inclusive Workshop:
- Seasoned Instructor: Our instructors brings a wealth of knowledge, skills, and practical expertise to the table in the art and science of bonsai cultivation. They've dedicated a substantial amount of time to delve into the study, practice, and mastery of bonsai techniques.
- Jade Bonsai Tree(s): Take your pick from a curated selection of pre-bonsai. You will be selecting 5 Jade trees for your forest arrangement, aligning with your preferences.
- Ceramic Bonsai Pot: Customize your bonsai's home with the ability to choose from a diverse array of curated bonsai pots. However, we've got an extensive collection of over 1,000 ceramic pots, and you'll receive a $10 credit if you prefer to select something different.
- Essential Instruments: All the tools, soil, and necessary instruments will be readily available for your use. We've got you covered to ensure a seamless and enriching bonsai experience.
What's NOT Included with the Workshop:
- Handmade or Retail Bonsai pots. If you prefer a ceramic pot from the ones we pre-selected, we'll give you a $10 credit towards another selection.
About the Workshop & Location:
- Attendee Cost: $125 per student
- Duration: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. If you arrive a few minutes early, you'll have more time to enjoy the nursery!
- Limited Class size: 8 students.
- Location: 914 S. Main Street, Bellingham, MA, 02019. Unless otherwise specified, all students should meet in the greenhouse labeled “Workshop.” It’s right behind our retail store – you can’t miss it.
- Refreshments Available: We have refreshments available for sale (Soda, Water, snacks).
- Bathroom: There is a portable washroom at the facility.
** All sales are final. No Refunds will be given on workshops provided by New England Bonsai Gardens.

Shipping Bonsai Trees:
Bonsai trees are generally shipped on Mondays & Tuesdays to avoid having them stay in the boxes for any extra time over the weekends.
Shipping Non-Tree Items
All non-bonsai items such as bonsai pots and bonsai supplies are shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment. Most orders are shipped either the same day or the next day, depending on the time of day the order is received.
Important Guidelines:
** We cannot ship to a FPO, APO, P.O. Box or to locations in Alaska, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii or anywhere internationally.
** All Bonsai are shipped direct from the nursery and may ship separately from other items purchased via the Bonsai Outlet.
** If extreme weather is expected, we may delay shipping your Bonsai tree to guarantee a healthy arrival; in such a case we will contact you. We are shipping living trees and must be conscious of the temperature conditions to the delivery address, as well as, while in transit. That said, we reserve the right to hold the tree(s) to guarantee a healthy delivery. We will Hold Your Tree Until It is Safe to Ship.
