Led by the highly respected John Romano, this immersive workshop focuses on the Shohin Japanese Black Pine 'Mikawa,' known for its fine needles, compact foliage, and elegant structure. Whether you're expanding your collection or starting your Shohin bonsai journey, this class provides the perfect foundation.
Here’s the exciting part – your workshop fee includes a gnarly, hand-selected Japanese Black Pine valued at over $150!
What's Included in the Workshop:
- Japanese Black Pine Pre-Bonsai: Each participant will receive an 8 to 10-year-old tree, standing approximately 10 to 14 inches tall. These trees are raw, untouched pre-bonsai, full of potential, waiting to be shaped.
- One-on-One Instruction: John Romano will personally guide you through the process of shaping your pine, offering expert insights into pruning, wiring, and design.
- All Tools & Materials: We’ll provide aluminum wire, tools, and soil – everything you need to style your tree during the workshop.
- Seasonal Care Tips: Learn how to maintain your black pine through every season, ensuring strong growth and vibrant health.
What's Not Included:
- Bonsai Pot: Since pot preferences vary, participants will have the option to purchase a pot from our extensive collection of handmade and Tokoname pots after the workshop.

- Duration: March 9th from 1:00 pM – 3:30 PM (Arrive early to explore the nursery!)

- Location: 914 S. Main Street, Bellingham, MA, 02019 (Workshops take place in the greenhouse behind our retail store.)

Shipping Bonsai Trees:
Bonsai trees are generally shipped on Mondays & Tuesdays to avoid having them stay in the boxes for any extra time over the weekends.
Shipping Non-Tree Items
All non-bonsai items such as bonsai pots and bonsai supplies are shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment. Most orders are shipped either the same day or the next day, depending on the time of day the order is received.
Important Guidelines:
** We cannot ship to a FPO, APO, P.O. Box or to locations in Alaska, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii or anywhere internationally.
** All Bonsai are shipped direct from the nursery and may ship separately from other items purchased via the Bonsai Outlet.
** If extreme weather is expected, we may delay shipping your Bonsai tree to guarantee a healthy arrival; in such a case we will contact you. We are shipping living trees and must be conscious of the temperature conditions to the delivery address, as well as, while in transit. That said, we reserve the right to hold the tree(s) to guarantee a healthy delivery. We will Hold Your Tree Until It is Safe to Ship.
