Advanced Wiring with Phil Hobkirk (Saturday, October 29, 2022)
Late fall is a great time to wire and style Conifers and Deciduous Bonsai.
Bring your trees that are healthy and ready for design.
We will make a styling plan and apply the wire.
Aluminum wire will be available as well as supervision and guidance from Phil Hobkirk. Students are expected to bring their own tree(s).
This is an advanced level workshop.
Participants must have bonsai experience and you should bring your own tree(s) that are in need of major bending, drastic changes or detail work. No task is too small or big for this workshop.
Learn how to make major changes to existing bonsai plants, including bending, trimming and detail work.
Attendee Cost: $100 per student
Duration: 10am – 4pm. Please arrive a few minutes early.
Included with Workshop:
- Experienced instructor (Phil Hobkirk is a highly respected horticulturalist, bonsai artist, and member of the NEBG team)
- Bonsai tools and wire to support the class
What’s NOT included:

Bonsai Tree: Specimens are available for purchase in our greenhouses if you do not already have bonsai for this workshop. You are encouraged to bring your own tree to this workshop.

Copper wire: We will not include copper wire in this workshop, but students can bring their own if they want to wire their conifers with copper.

Location: Unless otherwise specified, all students should meet in the greenhouse labeled “Workshop”. It’s right behind our retail store – you won’t miss it.

Shipping Bonsai Trees:
Bonsai trees are generally shipped on Mondays & Tuesdays to avoid having them stay in the boxes for any extra time over the weekends.
Shipping Non-Tree Items
All non-bonsai items such as bonsai pots and bonsai supplies are shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment. Most orders are shipped either the same day or the next day, depending on the time of day the order is received.
Important Guidelines:
** We cannot ship to a FPO, APO, P.O. Box or to locations in Alaska, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii or anywhere internationally.
** All Bonsai are shipped direct from the nursery and may ship separately from other items purchased via the Bonsai Outlet.
** If extreme weather is expected, we may delay shipping your Bonsai tree to guarantee a healthy arrival; in such a case we will contact you. We are shipping living trees and must be conscious of the temperature conditions to the delivery address, as well as, while in transit. That said, we reserve the right to hold the tree(s) to guarantee a healthy delivery. We will Hold Your Tree Until It is Safe to Ship.
