This is a One-Of-A-Kind Imported Japanese White Pine

Japanese White Pine imported January 2022. This tree was hand selected and receive at NEBG bare root mid-February 2022.

The Japanese White Pine bonsai, also known as Pinus parviflora, is a popular and highly valued species of bonsai tree that is native to Japan and Korea. It is known for its unique, twisting branches and its attractive, blue-green needles, which make it a favorite among bonsai enthusiasts.

The needles of the Japanese White Pine bonsai are typically arranged in clusters of five and are relatively long and thin compared to other pine species.

Also Known as a Five Needle Pines, JWP is grafted to a Japanese Black Pine under-stock. This tree has been prepped (old needles removed), and it is ready for you to style. Jun Imabayashi wired the tree earlier and the wire was removed in October. It was freshly potted in our Premium soil in January, so you the tree does not need to be repotted for a while.

After the import process, we keep trees at our nursery for a full cycle (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall). This ensure that the trees are healthy and ready for their forever home.

It’s important to not rush the process of selling these trees to the public too quickly after importing. There is often Branch Dieback with imported trees. We want to ensure the tree we sell you is healthy.

The Tree you see is the tree you'll receive. Shipping includes insurance.

About the Tree:

  • Height: 12" from table
  • Spread: 12"
  • Pot: 8.5" Unglazed Japanese Pot
  • Images taken on May 02, 2023

This is a perfect Grafted Japanese White Pine that was hand selected in Japan. The best approach for the first year or two is to let the tree become strongly rooted into the pot. When they come bare rooted, it can take them months or years to settle in (did someone say bonsai is supposed to teach patience?). Please hold off until Spring to work on the tree.

A Japanese White Pines (also known as Japanese Five Needle Pines) will be one of your most prized Bonsai.

We hand pick each and every one from top growers in Japan who train for decades before they even consider selling them to us. They graft, wire, scar, prune, pinch and more. All the while making sure the trees are in the peak of health. We know, it sounds like a contradiction, but this is the balance of bonsai. The perfect interplay of health and styling. So should you get one of these beautiful white pines, from us or anywhere else, keep the tradition alive by going slowly and mindfully. You will be glad you did.

We guarantee that the tree will arrive healthy and the Tree you see is the tree you will receive.

If you'd like more information and/or pictures, please inquire prior to purchasing.
