This is a One Of A Kind Old RoR Trident Maple

I Suspect this Tim Shoup RoR Trident Maple may have been purchased from NEBG. We had several of these well established Maples for sale a few years ago, and this one looks similar. Regardless, this trunk is well formed around the rock - look at the pictures.

The Root-Over-Rock Trident Maple is a type of bonsai tree that features a trident maple (Acer buergerianum) growing over a rock. The roots of the tree are trained to grow over the rock and form a natural-looking, attractive display.

The trident maple is a deciduous tree native to East Asia, including China, Japan, and Korea. It is a popular choice for bonsai due to its attractive, three-lobed leaves and distinctive bark. The tree can grow up to 40-50 feet tall in its natural state.

To create a Root-Over-Rock Trident Maple bonsai, a small trident maple sapling is carefully placed over a rock and secured in place using wire. The roots of the tree are then trained to grow over the rock and form a natural-looking pattern. Over time, the roots will begin to fuse with the rock and create a strong, stable base for the tree.

To care for a Root-Over-Rock Trident Maple bonsai, it is important to provide it with well-draining soil and plenty of sunlight. The tree should be watered regularly but not excessively, and fertilized during the growing season. Pruning and wiring can also be used to shape the tree and encourage growth in certain areas.

Overall, the Root-Over-Rock Trident Maple bonsai is a beautiful and unique tree that can make a striking addition to any bonsai collection. Its natural-looking roots and attractive leaves and bark make it a popular choice for bonsai enthusiasts who are looking for something different.

The tree was repotted spring 2023..
